Stephen took my friend and I up Yr Wyddfa back in November 2022. It was my first time climbing a mountain and first time in Eryri so I wanted to make sure we had someone with us who was experienced and knew the area. Stephen was fantastic, he is a wealth of knowledge of the mountain but also of welsh legends and language. Had a great time and he gave such helpful tips for getting us up there. It was the first snow of the season and it was incredibly helpful having Stephen there to guide us through the ice and snow. Would absolutely recommend him and Anelu Aim Higher. Diolch Stephen!

I have just come back from a mountain skills weekend in Snowdonia. We were very fortunate with the weather, although very cold plenty of snow, personally for me it was a challenge and great feeling of accomplishment. Stephen was an excellent instructor and has an excellent way of putting things across and a great manner of making things enjoyable. I would certainly recommend to anyone who wants to do a mountain skills course, at any level.

Our group of four from Ireland enjoyed a fantastic two day winter mountain skills course with Steve. From the outset, he was very responsive and professional which made planning our visit to Snowdonia very easy. We enjoyed a wonderful hike on Snowdon on Day 1, where we learned about the considerations to be taken when hiking in winter, and also got to practice using crampons and an ice axe. On Day 2, we learned more about staying safe in the mountains, and got to practice our skills with a map and compass. Throughout the two days, Steve offered a very practical approach to learning and was brilliant at catering to the needs and the mix of experience of our group. I'd highly recommend to Anelu Aim Higher to anyone looking for a fun and quality experience in the mountains of Snowdonia.

Just completed a brilliant winter skills course with Stephen (Jones) in the Cairngorm mountains. Despite some varied and, at times, extreme weather (e.g. 70mph winds), we managed to get out on the mountain all 3 days and learn a lot. We stretched ourselves and had a very enjoyable and rewarding time. I cannot commend Stephen highly enough for his leadership - he finds a perfect balance between safety, teaching, enjoyment - and the manner and style with which he enables us to learn is truly excellent. Looking forward to doing further courses with Stephen.

If your looking for an introduction or to improve your skills in the mountains/hills then look no further. We weren't sure what to expect when we signed up especially as we had done a fair amount of hiking. The course which is very much a hands on approach was excellent. Steven was a great tutor who tailored the days to our needs. We learnt all the expected stuff such as map reading, how to use a compass, pacing, safety skills, where to find information about the weather etc all taught whilst out on the hills or up in the mountains. But it was all the additional information that only comes with being with someone with local knowledge that made this a great experience. We learnt about the nature of the area, some history, geology and even got the low down on how working conditions in the slate quarry impacted on the local communities. We've come away from this course with a real sense of excitement and can't wait to put everything to the test. Thanks Stephen we would recommend this course to anyone.

What a great weekend - my first time back in North Wales for nearly 40 years and it didn't disappoint! Thanks to Steven for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend of paddle boarding, cycling and hiking up Snowdon. Brilliant! Would thoroughly recommend Anelu Aim Higher.

Stephen of Anelu Aim Highertook us on a day hike up and down Snowdon which was fantastic. The scenery is epic and the hike was a nice even pace with rest breaks as and when required! Stephen is extremely knowledgeable with regards to the mountain, geology, fauna, local legends and myths. Would thoroughly recommend!
